PORPORTION

i apologize in advance, hopefully, you can grasp the idea of this teeny picture because there is a lot to see here. this is olivia palermo, and she's got the keys to some very "ageless"ly classic looks.

here it's as easy as a drapey, belted sweater over, gasp, leather pants, or any pants for that matter. the traditional palette of camel/tan & black makes it very timeless, not to mention good for fall and comfortable --> comfort is hugely important, for us all! to round it out, the sky's the limit on the shoes you choose, so maybe go for something bolder than you normally would. oh yah!

just think about it, and let me know what you think? enjoy!

COZY

demi moore, the new face of ann taylor, looks absolutely amazing here. the faux fur trim long cardigan is a luxe all-in-one - perfect for any fall event. plus, the nice faux fur detailing on the upper half will hold anyone's attention even after you've sat down, for tea, lunch or a night out on the town.

the key to this piece is its versatility !! i adore it as shown in the campaign, dressy & belted. but... let me tell you: if you're headed out on a quick errand, throw this over a tee shirt and jeans. it makes the simple outfit instantaneously chic.

not to mention, the tort & pave statement necklace - i mean !!

TRANSLATION: WRAPPED SKIRT

a look pulled straight from the streets of FW ("fashion week") !!

christine centenera, a fashion editor for harper's bazaar (australia), is one to watch and worth a google image search, if you wish for additional visual inspiration.

she is always edgy, yet relaxed. she is trendy, yet it's refined. she is incredibly bold, yet the looks always echoes a simplicity.

here she is at fashion week with a look to love - BLACK. this season is showing a lot of wonderful, chunky knits. embrace them!! here she is below, and below that is a suitably wearable version to try out as a chic alternative, regardless of a blisteringly cold day.

enjoy!

NEVER FEAR: LEATHER

SALMA HAYEK PINAULT

there's a lot going on here !!

first, please understand, do NOT fear leather - - > EVER.

leather,  i believe can - and should - be a staple in everyone's closet. i present this picture to show that leather, while notoriously black, for the young/reckless set  & usually found lurking in the seedy smoke haze of the club scene, can actually be quite refined in a different color palette and in sleeker silhouettes.

take on the above look, and that’s not all. what else can it be? Answer: a sheath (above), a blazer (even the slightly-distressed style), a pencil skirt, perhaps....!! all of these, in leather, pump up an outfit instantaneously. GO FOR IT.

and know this: the synthetic cousins of leather are all acceptable too. i have heard again&again, the woes of leather from my mother dearest! i could have gone my whole life without knowing the term "rump sprung"? have you heard of this term? to some one of my era, this is most likely a urban rap term, whereas my mother explained it is the term for ruined leather pants, all stretched out in the back. well, well, well! times have changed. keep an eye out for leather substitutes, aka, synthetics, faux-leather & the waxed effect. while not only kinder to your wallet, these new blends replicate the look of leather while allowing the much desired "give" in fabric and resilience to bounce back.

let the “rump sprung” remain a dance floor move, while you glide through the city in your new, edgier look.

Enjoy, and let me know how it goes for you ;)

GET CLASSIC

this is a classic silhouette. why? answer: clean lines !!

the blazer and slim capri offer lengthening with the darker focus on your upper-half. the horizontal stripes of the tee bring us all in at the waist line. plus, the vertical strap gladiator sandal allows the eye to continue on without interruption, a slimming optical effect.
